What is the firefighter thing :0?

It's a junior firefighter program that we do to prepare us for the Firefighter 1 class, which is the official class you take to become a firefighter. It's at my local FD and we do awesome things. We're all 14-15 and it's über fun and AHVAAKHVSHS

Jay shook his head gently, motioning her with his hand to go down and walk with him. "I am fine-" his voice broke, into a laugh, a nervous, sad, and happy chuckle. He was probably shrinking in his skin, and Karou had destroyed that perfect, crystal mask.
"Karou... Things aren't going as planned... It's not as normal as you'd think, I don't believe..." One of Jay's hopeful, signature smiles took over, with the glittering eyes and the ever-so-gently turned upwards eyebrows, he laughed a short, kind sound. "Not that you have to worry about that anymore. Let's go on a walk, you and I." As soon as it came, the simper extinguished, leaving him looking somewhat sodden. "We have a lot to catch up on..."

Frederick closed his eyes, a warm sort of smile filling his lips as he brought the piece of pancakes to his mouth. "Yellow-" he decided humorously, pulling the fork away after he was done with the last bite. "Yellow would be a beautiful color, huh?" He was averting her again, keeping away from mentioning her past again. He knew it was on her mind, and you could tell that the young man had become fidgety.
"Caro- we should go out after this." He interrupted his own thoughts quickly, wetting his lips before continuing. "Just get outside- it's stuffy in here, just don't... Don't worry about it. Let's get out of the house, just you and me."

omfg i just watched mosters university and then rewatched mosters inc like so many childhood feels yo c':

Caroline scoffed in a playful manner, "Oh you know how I despise yellow, Freddy." Taking a small bite of pancake then standing, she snuck a quick glance at him before wandering towards the closet by their door. "Good thinking too, a ride to town would be nice don't you think?" She looked back at him after grabbing her coat and without a reply (since she knew he would agree) she headed out the door. Oh how she loved their horses. Her appaloosa (oh god i forgot its name what ever it will be apple bc silly names are fun) Apple was her prized possession (aside from Freddy of course c; ).

Karou nodded, matching her pace with Jay's. With a shy chuckle, she nodded in agreement. "Yes, we do." Her eyes shimmered, mimicking the light of the moon and she glanced up at him, absorbing what of Jay's face she could.
She still felt somewhat awkward, being around him with the times they faced. They were once lovers, after all, and the though stuck in her kind that they couldn't instantly mold back together like puzzle pieces. Reunion took time. But as she looked at Jay's face, pale in the light of the moon, soft pink lips and stark blue eyes and the brief gleam of his fangs, she could only reminisce in those good times.
