It wasn't too long afterwards had be slowed down to peer out into the trail's deep (being that they were on somewhat steep slopes). Of course, before them, was a vast amount of trees and beautiful landscape: just no town. He deflated a bit at that, glancing at his friend with a weary sort of apologetic smile. "Eh, or not." he let go of her hand at the words.

Karou laughed out loud, the lighthearted sound bouncing off of the distant trees. She aired the landscape for a moment, gazing up at the breathtakingly clear blue canvas that graced the forest. "We'll find a town eventually," she smiled, shuffling somewhat awkwardly when he released her hand. Like I said, she wasn't accustomed to affection, so the inexorable gestures and compliments she received from Jay only furthered her slight discomfort and lack of knowledge for a formidable response.

Jay smiled at her, seemingly warmed by her optimism. He leaned over and kissed her head- as if it were an ever natural, normal thing to do (although as much as he loved her, how couldn't it be?), and ruffled the top of her hair afterwards. "Always so optimistic- I do like that." his words were a strange mixture of absolute affection and a quick, curt, brusqueness. He continued past her down what looked like an old path, reckoning that it'd take them somewhere more habitable- of course, he continued backwards, so that he could face her.
"Funny. Sometimes I wished I wasn't bitten at all- but if I weren't, I never would have met you." Jay gave her a soft sort of smile- something relaxed, and just, well, sweet. "I don't think I mind as much, anymore."

Karou blinked, a list rosy tint dusting her cheeks as they proceeded on through the worn trails. Perhaps they'd find an abandoned residence down this trail? Or this one?
With each trail that branched off into two more, Karou found herself observing the nature surrounding it. The entire forest seemed devoid of activity, not even the birds chirping to ease her tension, only Jay, who continued his flattery.
"Well, sometimes I wish I hadn't been taken to the Asylum, but I would've never met you," she responded with a smile, nudging affectionately him with her elbow.

"See that? I've heard of good things turned bad- but never bad things with good outcomes." Jay gave her a sly smile, tilting his head to one side; he seemed to notice she was blushing slightly, but made no comments on it (though knowing him, he probably thought it was the most adorable thing the world has ever seen). "We beat them down, you and me. I didn't want to be what I am- but I do now." he chuckled, as if he could only remain serious for so long. "Maybe I'm rambling a bit..."

Karou nodded as she listened, finally understanding that everything really did happen for a reason. Jay was right - maybe she was meant to be with Jay. Maybe not as a lover, but as a companion ; a counterpart. Maybe she needed to be there forever too.
And there, an idea, however small, was planted within her mind.
Nevermind that ; Karou was blushing, more than she'd hoped was visible, though her bright, staccato laugh resounded through out the forest. "No, not at all - talk all you want, I don't care," she chuckled, eccentric blue eyes flitting up to his face.

"I like hearing you talk, too, though." Jay remarked, continuing down the path as if he knew each turn by heart- it was becoming more apparent that his attention was on Karou fully; it wasn't anything to be put on the spot, though. Jay had the sort of eyes where you could spill out your deepest or most embarrassing secrets to, and he'd remain the same, without any poor judgement or remorse or shock. He reached out a finger, and pulled a strand of hair away from Karou's eyes, seemingly a little happier once their blue eyes met again. "So don't you have anything to say?"

"I'm just glad we're both, you know, alive, and stuff," Karou commented humorously, though her voice held a serious undertone. Her gaze locked with his, and she couldn't repress the smile that grew as she delved into his eyes, as if she were searching.
What for, I don't know and it's likely that she doesn't either. Clasping her hands together behind her back, she lost focus in her surroundings and Jay was now graced with her full attention.

Jay laughed at that, grinning a bit. "Oh, how deep of you. Inspiring words, really." He mused, eyes returning to the ground for just a couple moments when he suddenly caught light of a new urge, and leaned over rather quickly, stopping them both from continuing their walks. He looked almost hesitant, as if he was going to confess something horrible, and needed her full attention to do it.
However, this wasn't the case.
Mr. Jay Evens, instead, spoke not a word as he leaned forward, and met his lips to her's. This wasn't like his usual affection- it was a little deeper, if possible, and less frivolous; containing the same amount of love, just in a different way. Unlike most kissers, he wasn't extremely passionate or forceful, or any of that sort; he was just soft, and careful. After what couldn't have been more than a moment or two, the young man pulled away, and looked at her eyes with anticipation. It was only second later had he began to look nervous, and turned away quickly, his face burning as he realized what he had done. "Oh my god, Karou, I'm sorry, I just-" so he was, inevitably, rambling a little bit, and looked more than flustered towards his actions.

For a moment, what was occurring hadn't registered in Karou's mind and when it did, she froze, unsure of what do do next. Her entire body tingled to the point where she nearly shuddered, the pleasurable sensation dancing all the way down to her fingertips. Tentatively, she returned the gesture for the moment in which the kiss still remained, before the vampire pulled back. Instantly, Karou's face reddened, the heat continuously rising up to warm her face as her gaze flitted to the ground. "I...uh..." She was frozen for the time being, still curious as to what this meant. Whether it was an impulsive action or he'd truly meant it or both...
Her mind wandered, thoughts bustling in and out as she struggled to collect herself. After a moment of tense silence, she blinked up at him, a tentative smile flitting briefly across her face. "Umm...it's ok."
