Jay stated at it, nodding his head slowly, and giving out what sounded like a laugh- well, a formidably nervous one to say the least. "We should be alright in here." He murmured, his free hand wandering against the dampened side if the cave wall, his breath suddenly sounding louder as the roaring of flames quieted down the deeper they went. It seemed the grotto was a lot longer than he had expected- tunneling into the side of some sort of hill- or something. He shook his head, sniffling as his sinuses burned. "Let's stop here, Karou." He looked at her, a tired, weary, and very very small smile on his lips. It was all he could manage for her.

Karou smiled gently, exhaling a staccato sigh of relief before stopping to lean against the moist stone wall. Her heart thrummed faster than it had out in the flames - darkness completely enveloped them, thickening the deeper they went. Distant sounds resounded through the tunnel, their heavy breathing echoing endlessly. "Alright," was all she said, returning the smile with a shaky one of her own, though her sight was definitely not good.

I was at a friends house, sorry. Also, I'm irked.

I don't really care too much for becoming involved in the case for that very reason xDD

Jay stopped from where he was, leaning against the wall of the cave, whilst sliding down to sit down. Once again the two of them had escaped what should have been a perilous, gruesome death. But no... He could look at her once again, a safe, but still beautiful Karou. He wanted nothing more than to jump up, and hold her tight in his arms- never let her go. And he vowed he wouldn't- he promised himself, dubiously, possibly, that they would be happy together soon.
Instead of acting out, he kept the smile, although gradually, it became more real. "You're not hurt, are you?" his voice sounded soft with a severe and tight love.

Karou smiled in spite of herself, eyes crinkling with withheld tears. "Yes - I am. But we're alive, right?"
Yes, it was real. These wounds, their current state and damp, shadowy environment - it was reality. It seemed to be a game, fate tossing them around like rag-dolls, only to recover them just on the brink of death, just to do it again.
The girl resisted the urge to embrace Jay in her tremblingly crushing grip, though her burns and his prevented that. She could only fix him with a dismal, lingering bright blue gaze, chock full of her brewing emotions.
She seeked the reprieve of cold water on her burns, a good portion of her once unflawed skin raw and swollen. Blood trickled down her battered limbs in several places, the most prominent being her head, which had taken a large blow as she tumbled into the ravine. Her clothing was singed and frayed, hair unkempt and bloodied. Yet she remained intact on the inside, as she and the vampire were both - in the long run - ok.

"Yes-" Jay managed, laughing out a sad, quick noise. He was in no better condition than she were, and with melancholy eyes, he leaned forward, and kissed the top of her head, holding himself there for only a moment. "Fate has screwed us-" he spoke what they both must have been thinking, the truth, that this had suddenly become their I'll past and future, and it appeared that whoever controlled the stars from above simply didn't want them happy together. At the end, though, he smiled anyways, and added a lighthearted continuation only he could manage in such a situation.
"But I think this is the end." Tears brimmed at the edges of his eyes- he didn't know why he had suddenly become heart wrenchingly sad, and perhaps, it was because he didn't believe himself speaking. He knew this wasn't the end of their ill fate, and he knew it would reacure again- but still, he continued. "And things will get better. You and me? Well find a house, someplace quiet, and perhaps we'll meet good people there, and this..." Jay stared at her and her condition, the smile fading with only melancholy taking its place. "And this will be over."

Karou's despondent gaze traveled up to lock with Jay's, heart twisting at the detectable melancholy within those dull blue eyes. Once lively, now fading with the exhaustion and sadness of yet another situation yet to separate them from being happy - being together. With a flickering excuse if a smile, she reached for his hand, tentatively grasping it as she'd made sure not to disturb any wounds. She couldn't see, only suspect where his hands would be, the resounding darkness of the face not assisting her in the least bit.

WHAT IF BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T SEE SHE ACTUALLY ACCIDENTLY GRABBED HIS CROTCH- anyways I might reply tonight but if I fall asleep it's because I have a massive migraine. I have all the time in the world tomorrow, though! Hehe ))

Jay smiled softly, a real one, and curled his fingers against her's, closing his eyes in comfort at even the small touch (although it made little to no difference in the sim lighting of the cave).
"Karou-" his voice had gotten somewhat more serious, more realistic than his dreamy, lighthearted tone before. The vampire opened his eyes again, seeing into her's as if they were more important than the sun and the moon.
"I won't let you get hurt- like this- again, I promise." He hummed a one-noted chuckle, breathing in and out in the cold damp air, his voice somewhat ragged from the smoke. "I love you so much- I, I'll try harder."

I have to go to the movies at 6:30pm, but it shouldn't last that long. xD )) AMG HE WOULD THO ))

"No," Karou sighed softly, bowing her head as in indication of defeat. "There's nothing we can do. Things like this keep happening, there's no way to prevent them. We just have to stick together..." Tears pushed past her attempts at repressing them, and her speech was interrupted as she tried to swallow past the lump in her throat. She cringed inwardly at each movement, wounds already having swollen or hardened. "I love you too, we'll - we'll be ok."
